Fall Time

Hello Class,
I hope you are all doing well!

For our first Blog Topic of the quarter, I would like to know:

What are your favorite activities to do during the autumn/fall season?

During the fall season, I like to pick pumpkins, especially in the month of October. This October, I went with my husband, Scott, best friend, Molly, and her boyfriend, Seth to a apple and pumpkin farm in Everson, Washington (Everson is just north of Bellingham).

The farm we went to was fantastic! There was a cafe there where you could buy fresh, hot apple cider and fresh apple pie. The farm had a petting zoo with baby goats, miniature horses, bunnies, and pigs.

When you are there you can take a hayride down to the apple and pumpkins fields, which also have a corn maze!

This farm had so many fun things to do!

Scott, Molly, Seth, and I all picked apples, and pumpkins. We are all excited to carve our pumpkins soon for Halloween holiday.

So, in the fall I like to pick pumpkins and eat yummy treats like apple pie, and fresh cider.

What do you ladies like to do in the fall?

New Topic: Funny Business

Hello class!
For our new topic, I would like for you to write about something recently that made you laugh; something you thought was funny. This could be something humorous you saw or heard on TV, at the movie theater, or in your real life.
Tell us a story about something that made you laugh!

*For some good vocabulary, look on page 80 of your work book, under Word Power, Storytelling.

My funny story:
Last weekend my grandmother came up from Portland to my home in Kirkland for a visit. I thought it would be a great idea to take my Grandmother to down town Kirkland to shop around and eat lunch. So, when my grandmother and my mother arrived at my house, I drove them to down town Kirkland and we shopped around. Both my grandmother and mother seemed to really enjoy themselves; they loved looking at the large houses on the waterfront and shopping in some of the fancy boutiques. They were really enjoying themselves. However, that enjoyment came to a stop... As my grandmother, mother, and I were waiting at a crosswalk, deciding which restaurant we were going to, pigeons flew over our heads and unfortunately dark, and gooey splatter fell from my the sky and onto my grandmother's head! Sadly, a bird left "droppings" on my grandmother's head. When my mother and I figured out what had happened, we laughed so hard we cried! Thankfully, my grandmother has a good sense of humor, because she laughed too!

New Topic: Favorite Places

Hello Class,
I hope that you are enjoying your day! It is so hot outside, so I hope everyone is staying cool!

Our new topic: Where are your top 5 favorite places to go in Washington and why they are your favorite places?

*Please use some of the vocabulary and grammar structures we have been going over in class.
*Please take in mind the notes on prepositions-in, at, & on
.

My top 5 favorite places to go in Washington are:

1. First, I like walking to the Kirkland Waterfront, and going to a frozen yogurt shop called, Cefiore. The yogurt and fruit toppings there are so fresh!

2. Second, I enjoy going to the Crossroad Mall food court for lunch or dinner. I like going to this particular foodcourt, because there are so many authentic dining choices--Mexican, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Russian, Indian etc. I usually eat Chicken Tiki Marsala from the Indian Grill restaurant. If you like spicy food, I recommend the Indian restaurant at Crossroads.

3. Third, I really like Half Price Book Store, also located in the Crossroads Mall. This book store is great because every book is half price! The books are used, however in good condition. I often buy school textbooks, novels, children's books, and Dvds from this store.

4. Fourth, I enjoy walking on trials in the Bellevue Bridal Trails neighborhood. In this neighborhood, there are horse stables and a forested area with 3 walking trails. I usually pick the trial that is about 3.3 miles. I really enjoy getting away and walking in the forest. It is a wonderful opportunity for exercise as well as site seeing.

5. Fifth, there is a lighthouse located on a beautiful bay in Tacoma, Washington that I would often drive to when I was living with my parents in Federal Way, Washington. Also, this location is where Scott and I got married. So I really love this location.

These are my top 5! Thank you for reading!

A New Blog Topic

Hello Class! I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend!

For this blog topic, I would like you to discuss your favorite actor/actress or your favorite movie, or both!

We are talking about movies & books in our Wednesday class unit, so feel free to use vocabulary and opinions you have discussed with the the class.

Blog:
One of my favorite actors is Jack Black. I think Black is a silly, yet outstanding actor. He always plays characters that are unusually odd. Like in the movie School of Rock, Black plays a dead-beat musician who pretends to be a elementary school music teacher so that he can teach kids how to play Rock music. However, my favorite movie Black plays in is Nacho Libre. In this movie, Black plays a Catholic monk that wishes he was a famous Mexican lucador (wrestler). I highly recommend this movie; it is fantastic!

Hello Class,
I hope that you are doing well. For this week's topic, I would like for you to blog about:
activities you like to do in your free time.

+Don't forge
t after you have written your blog, to view other students blogs and write comments.
+ Great job on your recent blog posts!
+ We will be going over some of your sentences in class.
+ Don't forget to use some of the new adjectives you have learned in unit 13 & 14

In my free time, when I am not teaching, tutoring, or studying, I like to garden, bake, and paint.
I just recently started gardening; I find it very calming and peaceful. I enjoy the experience of going to the store (Fred Meyer's of course) and picking colorful flowers or wild flower seeds. Watching flowers grow and
bloom is fascinating!

Also, I enjoy baking in my spare time. I am a beginner at baking, so I
experiment a lot! Painting, is something I also enjoy doing during my freetime. I often like to paint birds, trees, and people.
Thank you for viewing my blog!

Thursday, July 2

Hi everyone!

The new questions for this blogging week are as follows:

1. What will you be doing for the Fourth of July Holiday?
OR
2. What did you do for the Fourth of July?
3. Who did you celebrate with?
4. What did you like about the celebration?

My fourth of July plans are as follows: I am going to try and go to a U-Pick after class on Friday; I would really like to pick some blueberries or strawberries so I can bake a pie for my family. On Saturday, my husband and I will drive to Ocean Shores, where my grandfather lives, to celebrate the Fourth of July. My parents, aunts and uncles will all be celebrating at my grandfather's house. For the the night firework display, my whole family will go to the ocean and watch people set off their fireworks. It will be an exciting time! I will let you all know how it turns out!

Hello ESL 2 Class!

Hi Class,

Welcome to the blogging world; I hope the blogging process has treated you well!

For this first blog, please discuss three specific goals you have to improve your English proficiency for this summer quarter. Also, please write how you will specifically accomplish these goals.

*Please write at least three goals, and three specific ways to complete these goals.

Example:
Brittani's goal to improve her Spanish proficiency this quarter:

This summer I am trying to improve my Spanish language skills so that I can speak fluently with my Mexican grandfather, as well as be readily available to speak with future Spanish students and parents. My first goal for this summer quarter is to improve my Spanish listening skills. To do this, I will watch the Spanish channel or listen to a Spanish radio station for at least 2 hours a week. My second goal is to improve my Spanish conversational skills. To accomplish this goal, I will speak Spanish with my grandfather once a week for 2 hours on Mondays. My third goal is to be able to read and write more effectively in Spanish. To complete this goal, I will write at least once a week on this blog in Spanish. I hope I can do it! Wish me luck!
